The Pete Montoro Family

Pastor Pete Montoro has ministered in New York City for over 30 years as the founder and pastor of the Open Door Bible Baptist Church of Astoria, Queens. He was saved at the age of eleven and called to preach during his junior year of high school. Following his graduation from Baptist Bible College in Springfield MO, Pastor Montoro served under Evangelist Larry Clayton. It was while serving the Lord he met his wife, Julia. They have been married for thirty-five years and have twelve children and thirteen grandchildren.

Since the first service of Open Door Bible Baptist Church in October of 1992, Pastor Pete Montoro has endeavored to preach the Word of God and to lead God’s people in obeying Him. As the church took its first steps, an earnest search was ongoing to find a permanent home for the believers to assemble. A vacant synagogue became the “Miracle on 35th Street” in 1996 through a series of miraculous provisions. God alone would receive the glory in the coming years as the church body grew in numbers and spiritual strength. Countless lives have been reached, hundreds of missionaries have been supported, and the sphere of influence continues to spread to other boroughs as churches are planted and others revived.
